Car rentals can be a practical way to visit areas less than an hour from downtown, such as Île d'Orléans, Côte-de-Beaupré, Jacques-Cartier, and Portneuf regions.
Réseau de transport de la capitale (RTC)
The RTC serves Québec City, Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Wendake, and Ancienne-Lorette. The Côte-de-Beaupré, Île d'Orléans, Jacques-Cartier, and Portneuf areas are not part of RTC territory.
The Parcours 11 route serves the Upper Town and the Old Port area and connects to the ferry terminal.
The ferry links Québec City and Lévis 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It sails on the hour and half-hour during the day and on the half-hour at night.
Limousine rentals
To go from point A to point B along or across the St. Lawrence River, take the taxi boat (zodiac type). Reservation necessary.
Note that motorcycles are not allowed inside the walls of the Old City unless you have a reservation at a hotel inside the walls.
Québec City's historical Upper Town and Lower Town districts are easy to explore on foot.

Let us transport you without any worries about the directions to get there, the road or the weather conditions… The SKI BUS service is fast, comfortable and safe. You’ll be picked up at your downtown hotel’s doorstep, or at Place Ste-Foy (door 3). Then, just relax and appreciate the scenery en route towards the two stations Mont-Sainte-Anne and Le Massif. The best way to fully enjoy you ski vacation in Québec City!

It is possible to travel with an intercity bus (Intercar) to get to these places: close to the Tourist Information Bureau in Boischatel, to the Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Shrine (stop at the Couche-tard in Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré) and at the Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix (stop at the Voisin convenience store in Saint-Tite-des-Caps). Départures from and arrivals at the Gare du Palais in Québec. Operation on weekdays and week-ends.

An intercity bus (Intercar) can drop you at the entrance of Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier. From there, the visitors center is a 10 km walk.
To get in the Portneuf area, there is a shuttle service (without reservation) from Monday to Friday towards the end of the day.

The Gare du Palais train station is in the Old City. Public transit (RTC) and taxi are available.
The Sainte-Foy Train Station is 5 minutes by taxi from nearby hotels.
Terminals in the Old City and the borough of Sainte-Foy–Sillery–Cap-Rouge are served by the RTC public transit system and by taxi.
