As the days grow shorter, the forest gradually dons its fall colours, culminating in an explosion of scintillating hues: golden-glow yellows, astonishing oranges, and fiery reds. Visit any one of these grandiose settings and see for yourself.

When fall is in full swing, Mother Nature usually graces us with a glorious stretch of warm days and cool nights known as Indian Summer—the perfect time for getting outdoors.

4 Take the Local Artisan Route

Fall is a time of fruitful abundance, in colours and in crops. Head for the harvest and pick your own apples, pumpkins, and squash at one of the many u‑pick (“autocueillette”) orchards on Île d’Orléans or along Côte-de-Beaupré. It’s also grape‑harvesting time—the perfect excuse to discover an array of local wineries. Of course, be sure to save room for the other artisans along the way who will offer you jams, cheeses, baked goods, pâtés, smoked meats, and a host of other local products to fill up the corners of your gourmet basket.
