Québec City at its best

A Unique Theatre Experience in the Streets of Old Québec

Credit: Carrefour international de théâtre

Last night I went to a walk-through theatre production called Où tu vas quand tu dors en marchant...? and I LOVED it, even though I’m usually not much of a theatre fan. A few words that come to mind when I think of the performances: fun, feeling, and wonder. Making my way along the curious nighttime route, I got swept up exploring the strange, dreamlike scenes. It’s a totally different way to explore the Old City— one I highly recommend. If you’ve ever wanted to step into a parallel universe where anything is possible, this is your chance.

The Concept

Où tu vas quand tu dors en marchant...? is a series of five performances presented at five different sites in the Artillery Park and Îlot des Palais sectors. It’s a parallel universe of few words, so you don’t need to speak French to enjoy the show. The event is free and is on Thursday through Saturday from May 26 to June 11, starting at 9 p.m. Each performance is made up of scenes that last about 15 minutes and the whole thing runs continuously until 11 p.m., so you can visit the sites in any order.

This year, Carrefour international de théâtre has teamed up with nine restaurants to offer special menus for the event, so you can make a night of it. Ticket holders for Carrefour international de théâtre shows also get exclusive discounts for the duration of the festival. It’s the perfect excuse for a meal out at Griendel, Chez Victor, La Cuisine, Deux22, La Korrigane, Nina, Versa, Chez Murphy’s, or Pub St-Alexandre. A few photos to whet that appetite:
